Company Mission:
I always tell kids, “ you’re smart, you’re talented, you’re gifted and you can change the world.” Through the “Kids Helping Kids Through Books” series, this now gives children a venue to empower them to make a difference.
As Vice President for The Electronic Bookshelf for 5 years, I taught and conducted training sessions to librarians and teachers around the country. I listened to what books educators were looking for to use with their students. Time and again, moving on to be Marketing Director for Scholastic Reading Counts! for 3 years in the New York City office, educators continued to tell me that they were seeking books to assist children to help them navigate through difficult life situations.
From years of product development and input from librarians and teachers over a 15 year period, I have created the book series “Kids Helping Kids Through Books” as a resource for parents and children to access when they are going through a difficult life situation.
The company continues to evolve and now students involved in this book series are traveling to schools, public libraries, and children’s museums to inspire other students and teach them how they wrote their stories and how to draw the pictures in each book.
In addition, after working with the San Diego Rescue Mission (SDRM) for KidsGames 2010, now at each “Reflect, Create, and Inspire” Workshop that we hold, we collect jeans for the SDRM. We collected 120 pairs of blue jeans at our first seminar held at the Del Mar Public Library in Del Mar, CA. Since that first workshop, we have now collected over 2000 pairs of jeans.
Kids truly can change the world!
